Alexandra Elliott

Emily Tallentire

Alexandra’s love of performing and fully understanding musical theatre, breathes new life and passion into the part of Emily. Alexandra has played numerous lead roles. Two memorable and standout performances were as Eliza in My Fair Lady, which will be well remembered by many and as Lucy in Jekyll & Hyde. Two parts where her acting and singing skills were used to the full. Alexandra’s leading lady performances include:  Kate: Kiss me Kate, Sally: Me and My Girl, Guinevere: Camelot, Mabel: Pirates of Penzance, Rosalinde: Die Fledermaus, Elsie: Yeomen of the Guard, Phyllis: Iolanthe and Rose Maybud: Ruddigore.

Ashley Bright

John Tallentire

Very simply, Ash was born to play the part of John and we are very lucky to have him. Ash’s need and desire to make the very most of this role is very obvious. Ash’s experience in theatre has seen him play the lead roles of Cable: South Pacific, Judas: Jesus Christ Superstar, (which still remains as one of his favourites), Bill: Me and My Girl, Cousin Kevin: Tommy, Joe: Our House, Roger: Rent, Jerry: The Full Monty and Franz: The Producers.

Neil Prior

Isaac Tallentire

Neil's natural charisma and charm made him a great choice for the part of Isaac. Neil has been a police officer in Leicestershire for 22 yrs, he also dabbles in oils/acrylics as an artist, he loves snowboarding and travelling with his wife Martha. Neil and Martha have a great fondness for Spain and Italy. (check out his sung proposal to Martha on You Tube "O sole mio, proposal in Venice")

David Toft

Seth Tallentire

David is a great character with mountains of experience behind him. He began performing in Gilbert & Sullivan, playing Luiz in The Gondoliers and going on to play leading roles in all 13 of the G&S operettas. He was also the principal tenor for Ashleyan Opera and his favourite role was Don Jose in Carmen. He has been Musical Director for several local groups including The Leicester G&S Society and of course, The LOPs. He is a member of The Leicester Drama Society and has loved performing in revues, music hall and straight plays. Last year he trod the boards in a musical again in the LOPs’ Kiss Me Kate. David is looking forward with great excitement to being part of The Hired Man.

Tom Urch

Jackson Pennington

Tom, just like Neil, is a charismatic character with a great sense of fun. He has both experience and great ability from performing professionally and taking many roles in theatres all around Leicestershire. Tom’s most recent performance in Leicester was at Curve Theatre as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar.  Tom idolizes Frankie Valli, so it is no surprise that Jersey Boys is his favourite musical!!

David Lovell

Pennington Senior

David brings huge quality and experience to the Hired Man. Loving to perform in both plays and musicals, David has performed as many characters: Sidney Bruhl: Deathtrap, John: Calendar Girls, the Dame in pantomime at the Little Theatre, George Dillingham: Aspects of Love, Eric 'Rubber Legs' Devene: A Slice of Saturday Night, Roger De Bris: Producers, Harold: Full Monty, Bill Snibson/Gerald: Me & My Girl, Pirelli: Sweeney Todd, Henry Higgins: My Fair Lady, Leopold: White Horse Inn, Chitterlow: Half A Sixpence, Buddy: Follies and Fred Graham: Kiss Me Kate, Ko-Ko: Mikado, Major General Stanley/Pirate King: Pirates of Penzance, Jack Point: Yeomen of the Guard, Lord Chancellor: Iolanthe, John Wellington Wells: Sorcerer, Danilo: Merry Widow, and Eisenstein: Die Fledermaus.

Emma Elliott

Sally Edmonson

Emma brings a warmth, innocence and freshness to the part of Sally and completes a stunning line up of the leading parts in this show. Emma, just like all the other main characters in The Hired Man has many theatre and performance credits to her name and she is as likely to be seen entertaining with her band at a wedding or function, as she is on stage.  Emma’s enthusiasm and belief in The Hired Man is very evident in her performance.

Laura Carvell

May Tallentire

Laura brings sparkle and fun to the part of 'May'. Being naturally enthusiastic and competitive, Laura could not have been more suited to the part. Laura's theatre credits include: Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, Ann in Half a Sixpence, Lauren in Oklahoma!, Katie Brown in Calamity Jane, Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Princess Yasmin in Aladdin and Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty.  Laura has also played basketball locally, nationally and regionally for Leicester Cannons and East Midlands since the age of 11.

Philip de Voil

Ted Blacklock

Phil started as a member of the student Light Opera group, performing in Ruddigore, Die Fledermaus, and The Mikado.  He joined the LOPs in 1991 and has also performed many times with Present Company in Buxton Opera House.

Phil’s two favourite roles have been Freddy in My Fair Lady  and Mordred in Camelot. Many other roles include Frosch: Die Fledermaus, Sir Despard: Ruddigore, Gerald: Me and My Girl, Ajax: La Belle Hélène, Strephon: Iolanthe,  Motel: Fiddler on the Roof, and last year’s Kiss Me Kate double act with David Toft as the two gunmen. Phil loves the grittiness of The Hired Man and brings stubbornness to the shortsighted and anti-union character Blacklock.

Nick Read

Harry Tallentire

Nick is our newest and youngest recruit and is perfect in the role of Harry, John & Emily's son. Although young, he already has a wealth of experience, including working with the youth section of Curve, Leicester. Nick is currently studying for his A levels and is an exciting prospect for the future. We are pleased that he has managed to find time to join us in The Hired Man.
